• I love listening to music when I'm painting. "Kelly watched the stars" was a big track by AIR, some 8 years ago. It was every where. Such a good groove and I've been waiting to title a painting with it. I think this one suits to perfectly. Medium: Mixed media Dimensions: 90 x 81cm This piece is framed. RRP $2,200

  • The main idea behind the blindfolded collection is to show a womans beauty through flowers. What do you see when you look a woman in the eyes? Is it beauty, passion, playfulness, calmness, pacification, caress, tenderness, love? By replacing a womans gaze with flowers, I have tried to show these traits through the flowers. In this particular work I painted a girls face covered by the sweet peas flowers. I associate these flowers with incredible tenderness and lightness. The little curly endings of the petals speak of some playfulness and carelessness in this girls character. Full and sensual lips and slightly wavy hair, all giving a feeling of light negligence and naturalness to her entire character, also complement her image. Medium: Watercolor on 300 gsm cold pressed watercolor paper Dimensions: 59.4 x 42cm

  • With ‘hopes and dreams’ Coleen seeks a positive and perfect composition from imperfect pieces using acrylic paint washes, streaks and daubs and cut tissue paper. Inspired by traditional dream catchers symbolising protection and hope. The ‘dream dropper’ series explores human strength, how people can move forward with hopes and dreams and find the positive through the negative. Are the dreams falling away or are they about to coat us in hope and strength? Each day can be different. Medium: Acrylic paint, tissue paper on mat/mount board Dimensions: 37 x 48cm
  • This work is an exploration of the shapes cast by plant shadows and the absent spaces that appear between solid forms. Equally present and visible but often overlooked, this ‘scene between’ is a metaphor for the meaning and contentment individuals often find in the quieter, less visible aspects of life. Through the deconstruction of shape and form, Kristine seeks to alter perception so that the original motifs are barely recognisable. The flux of semi-figurative abstract shapes float in a field of distinctive colour, inspired by the detailed observation of Australian bush flora. Medium: Acrylic on 300gsm Arches Huile Paper Dimensions: 41 x 30cm
  • As is signature to my work, this piece is about interconnectivity and emulates the intricate connections in nature and it’s constant interactions.  In this case, the theme ‘must have purple’ drives the aesthetic and speaks to the beauty and intricacy of human thought and emotion as an element of natural existence.

  • I am currently studying an MFA at the National Art School in Darlinghurst, conducting an enquiry into colour, form and light in Contemporary Geometric Abstraction. My practice explores the complexity found in the simplicity of shape and traverses the fluidity between art and design in painting. By combining an interdisciplinary approach to making art, I explore what it means to work within the expanded field of painting: painting in space, painting with light, painting with and without paint. The parabolic shape is the design foundation of my studio practice. Using the parabola as a visual tool, my practice explores the creative possibilities of this shape, through patterning and repetition found in Abstract Geometry. In Purple Mountainscape, the parabola’s form, oscillates between the rigid paths of its traditional shape and the dancing plasticity of the natural form. Presented as a series of arrangements the Organic Parabola series of paintings and drawings deliberates the creative potential of the parabola’s shape. Liberating the parabola’s form from its limiting curves and structures, the artworks reveal a pathway for mapping natural manoeuvres uniting freely and organically. Using acrylic paint on paper the transparency and translucency of colour and form are alternately layered and overlapped to resemble an abstract landscape, revealing inherent juxtapositions of form, where order and uniformity converge along with unpredictability and spontaneity, realized in the contrastingly and improvisational pouring of paint. Medium: Acrylic and spray paint on paper Dimensions: 46 x 33cm, 52 x 40cm (framed size) This piece is framed.
  • The interactions of technology and humanity are largely intertwined. Iteratively conditioned, processed, manufactured, and governed into what can be described as an ideal being. All the while, with each interaction, humanity finds itself more distanced from society. As humanity grows more distanced, they ultimately find themselves more comforted in the presence of technology. Medium: Paper, Gesso, Acrylic Paint, Permanent Marker Dimensions: 70 x 100cm This piece is framed.
  • Memories are formed but reinforced by our senses, our context, our emotions. Some are clear and well defined while others a blurry. Some change upon reflection, others are all but fleeting. Some seem to disappear as time rolls on. I wanted to use these nebulous thoughts and express them through paint and canvas. Medium: Acrylic on cotton canvas Dimensions: 101.6 x 50.8cm

  • This painting evolved as my experience of spring evolved. It started as a single vase, with a smaller side glass, then as I walked daily through our garden and neighbourhoods, the spring flowers started to bloom. They all tend to have long stalks and fall in to a whimsical line of grace. I suppose my adoration of spring wildflowers in full bloom is that they show their elegance, and they turn upward to drink in the sunshine; and who doesn't love a touch of elegance and sunshine in ones life? Medium: Oil on gallery stretched raw linen Dimensions: 50 x 40cm RRP: $1,500

  • Feathertop is one of our most dramatic mountains in Australia and it has long been a favourite and an inspiration of mine. I spent 16 winters in the Victorian Alps and this is a view from a skitour that I did from Falls Creek standing on the top of Mt. Jaithmathang. I am deeply inspired by mountains and spend most of my time in them as well as being my main inspiration for my art. This artwork is done in my current style, where the texture plays an important part of the overall piece, so the canvas is un-stretched and crumpled before I start drawing. This is a mixed media artwork that combines both drawing and painting techniques. I am inspired by light and try to communicate the moods that are created in nature by light. Medium: Graphite, acrylic on un-stretched canvas Dimensions: 50 x 70cm This piece is unstretched. RRP: $1,400
  • This piece depicts peace as I see it. Peace in nature. Peace as a recognised symbolic image. This idea started as a sketch as I drew the tree and felt the peace it portrayed the trunk became the A and the rest evolved. I see the tree as a symbol of peace that we can draw from. A seed is planted, it grows through adversity around human interaction, environmental influence and extreme weather conditions. It thrives and survives while standing still and growing tall in its place for many years to come. If we reflect upon this thought, we, like the tree can stand tall if we attempt to hold peace within ourselves as a guide and strength throughout our life, then we can endeavour to walk a path that reflects peace on this earth (alongside the tree) and those around us. Medium: Watercolour, gouache, coloured pencil, ink Dimensions: 74 x 53cm

  • I describe my work as digestible abstract, landscape with hints of the obvious. Australia has a wealth of inspiration with its open spaces, and the palette is endless. After spending time in The Flinders Ranges, I wanted to capture and exaggerate the forever changing light over the course of the day and into nightfall. I've allowed the colour and the movement of marks and shapes to play, interact and imitate our magnificent outback. Medium: Oil on canvas Dimensions: 61 x 61cm
  • The repetition of marks and patterns in, Purple by nature, invite you to take a closer look at the beauty found in the Echium flower and the natural world.
