Christina Ballantyne is an artist living in Brooklyn, NY. She has worked under several contemporary artists and will be exhibiting in the upcoming group show, Frabjous in New York City September 2018.

Her work is primarily influenced by her experience with epilepsy, which induces temporal lobe auras (hallucinations) that range from being euphoric religious-type experiences to fearful and disturbing. Using figurative painting and symbolism, her work depicts her own auras or descriptions from others whose experiences resonate with her own. The themes in her work depict questions that seizures provoke such as definitions of sanity, religious experience, death and self-image.
