Debra has been interested in art, in colour, in design, in making a mess, since she was little. The best part of story books were always the pictures. From drawing in the sand, to drawing in chalk on the driveway art has always been a constant in her life in one form or another. She studied art all through high school and was accepted into a visual arts degree at university but decided to defer and go travelling instead (who wouldn’t 🙂 Debra lived in the UK for many years and painted and exhibited her work in galleries in Glasgow. From here she sold pieces to Europe, the UK and Japan.
Returning to Australia she discovered many other mediums…in particular polymer clay and mosaics. Her polymer clay work has been displayed in art magazines and her stained glass mosaic work has travelled around the world in the form of donated pieces for auctions…in particular for Doctors Without Borders and donations for community projects such as schools and hospitals in the USA, and to the Steve Irwin mosaic memorial at Australia Zoo in Queensland. Now Debra mostly spends her time painting in acrylic, inks and mixed media.
Many of her paintings are now happily settled in their new homes throughout Australia. You can also email her direct if you are interested in any current works.
