Janette is a wife, a mother and a grandmother and she is largely self taught, her grandfathers taught her to draw when she was very small, they taught her to keep her busy while she was visiting them because her mother and father were divorced when she was very young.

She paints in many styles. She started teaching in 1994, when I had a room full of ladies was waiting for the teacher and the teacher didn’t turn up to teach them. Everyone knew Janette painted and did a lot of drawing so that is what happened and how she started on the teaching trail.

This opened up a new world for her.

Janette loves to paint animals, Modern Paintings and soft watercolour paintings.

Janette is a Matisse Derivan Advisor, she has been associated with them since 2002, and she promotes their products and acrylic paint through her many art workshops and classes. She has demonstrated for them at the Royal Easter Show on many occasions. Janette paints with their paint exclusively, she has found she can manipulate into many styles, Janette can paint with a palette knife with their Structure Paint and can paint soft water colour paintings with their Flowpaint.

Janette has been a judge in art competitions throughout the state and had her designs published in Fine Art and Folk Art Magazines. Janette won the Seniors Art Prize 2 years running in Mudgee, and also the Waste to Art Prize in 2005. Janette had an exhibition in 2013 in New York at the Agora Gallery and it was very successful.

Janette is at present illustrating a children’s book for her friend about a little fox.
