Jessie Pitt – “Feathertop from Mt. Jaithmathang.”

Starting bid: $300.00

1 in stock

Feathertop is one of our most dramatic mountains in Australia and it has long been a favourite and an inspiration of mine.

I spent 16 winters in the Victorian Alps and this is a view from a skitour that I did from Falls Creek standing on the top of Mt. Jaithmathang.

I am deeply inspired by mountains and spend most of my time in them as well as being my main inspiration for my art.

This artwork is done in my current style, where the texture plays an important part of the overall piece, so the canvas is un-stretched and crumpled before I start drawing. This is a mixed media artwork that combines both drawing and painting techniques.

I am inspired by light and try to communicate the moods that are created in nature by light.

Medium: Graphite, acrylic on un-stretched canvas

Dimensions: 50 x 70cm

This piece is unstretched.

Majoring in Printmaking.

From Melbourne, Australia, currently based in Tirol, Austria.

Deeply inspired by the natural world, with a focus on mountain landscapes. The constantly changing light, moods, seasons in the mountains offer a constant stream of inspiration. Jessie feels strongly connected to the mountainous landscape and her artworks are influenced by what she sees in connection to what she feels. A painter of light and shadow, conveying an impression or a mood. Bringing an impression of the true soul of the mountains to everyone.

Her current works are painted/drawn on un-stretched canvas predominantly, that she deliberately crumples to add texture, which is an important part of the finished artwork. Giving them a natural and free look without constraints. Using various mediums such as graphite, charcoal, ink and acrylic combining both painting and drawing techniques to build up the artworks in layers, trying to achieve a sense of depth and translucency in her artworks.

She has spent most of her life in the mountains, growing up in Australia and through a life of travel and skiing between Australia and Austria.

Jessie is working/exhibiting internationally. Countries that she has exhibited in are England, Australia, Austria, Italy, France, Germany, Spain. And currently has work in the Womens Museum Meran, in South Tirol, Italy. And succeeded in the juried selection process to exhibit at The Other Art Fair in LA this March and previously last year in October and recently for ArtRooms Fair in London this past January.
