She has a vision deficit of a homonyous hemianopia and will never hold a licence to drive. At the age of 17, in 2015 she underwent radical brain surgery to cure her epilepsy and save her life. Karley had suffered seizures for most of her young life and after the success of a hemispherectomy (removal of half the brain) she is now running a business and pursues life as a photographer. She has had her story published around the world and shows that through her inner strength, courage and determination anything is possible and only you can achieve and rise above. Karley has been mentored by some of the worlds most renowned portrait and wildlife photographers and continues to give back to others that need a lift in life through being a member of the heART project and through her photography. She has been invited to several events as a keynote speaker and continues to share her journey and inspire others daily both on social media platforms and by forming strong relationships with anyone she meets. From birth Karley defied the odds with pure grit and a never give up attitude. Her personality, sense of direction and compassion for others shines through such a young person and will surely make the most of her precious life.
