Kim Miatke – “Hope Found”

Current bid: $100.00

1 in stock

Hope is found in believing for change, believing things can be better, believing that although I may not know the future, there is the tiniest of light in every dark space. That there is always even the smallest slither of hope that the river will bend, the sun will rise again and the flowers will bloom. Sometimes when we feel particularly lost, we only have the strength to hold the hand of another, piggy back on their hope and their belief that light is always brighter and stronger than the darkest of nights. Change will come. Light will shine. Peace will be known. Hope will be Found.

Life with Epilepsy can at times feel unending, frustrating, scary, lonely and hopeless. We need each other. We need to hold onto the strength of another when life feels hard, dark and sad. We are made for community. We are made to love. We are made to piggy back one another when they can’t walk themselves. We can be the hand, the hug, the meal, the driver, the company, the support, the fun …. journeying together to find and hold onto Hope.

Kim’s story is one that defies ‘art convention’. She studied straight Maths/Science followed by counselling and then theology, not an art class in sight. While playing with paint alongside her daughter, Matilda, she discovered a passion for, gift of and freedom in creative expression through paint. Taking the vulnerable step of sharing her work with the big wide world, Kim was and continues to be overwhelmed by the impact it has on the hearts and lives of those it reaches.

Each piece is a personal journal in paint and word that documents a journey. One full of both beautiful highs, gut wrenching lows and all the ‘normal’ bits in between.

Surrounded by trees and the constant sweet noises of nature in Warrandyte, Victoria, Kim lives with the love of her life Michael and three incredible children – Ella, Jed and Matilda. She loves colour and has an addiction to both coffee and chocolate. She adores her family, lives for holidays, delights in beauty and loves creating.

Kim loves the privilege of journeying with others and sharing the messy, scary, painful & fun moments of her own life with raw honesty. She believes that everyone has creative potential that just needs to be unlocked.
