Kristal Firman – “Dance of the Pansies”

Current bid: $140.00

1 in stock

Dance of the Pansies is a mix of delicate and bold movements of colour featuring little pockets of subtle detailing.

This piece almost made the scrap heap. It wasn’t until, out of frustration, I threw down some rubbing alcohol right into the centre, causing the colours to blend together. I knew immediately that this was going to become one of my favourite pieces and so I continued on with the whimsical garden bed.

The Dance of the Pansies was created specially for the Epilepsy Action Australia and I suspect it will always be one of my favourite pieces. It reminds me of perseverance and the beauty that can be created if you do.

Kristal Firman is an emerging abstract artist from Melbourne’s West who’s medium features bold and vibrant Alcohol Inks paired with delicate white detailing. It was only in 2015 when Kristal (a watercolour dabbler and design student) was first introduced to Alcohol Ink and instantly something clicked. Kristal worked on her craft religiously, learning from professionals and picking up tricks everywhere she could until finally she felt ready to take that step from crafter to artist. Now her substrate collections range from translucent, yupo and porcelain tile each of which, explore different styles. Kristal admits that while she still has much to learn from the industry now that she’s in it rather than viewing it, she’s now confident in her style and where she sees it heading.
