Margaret is a Fellow of the Royal South Australian Society of Arts, a member of the Pastel Artists of South Australia, a member of the Victor Harbor Art Society and Past President for eight years of the Victor Harbor Regional Gallery.

Margaret’s interest in art began at an early age when her gift for drawing was recognised. This led her to attend the Girls Central Art School where the development of her abilities began. Since the mid 90s, Margaret has worked predominantly in Pastels. This medium she has found to be an absolute delight. However oils, pen and water colours have not been neglected. Margaret seeks for the expression of subjects to be true with deviation or distortion. Therefore she majors on good drawing, colour, design and composition with a liking for the Impressionist style.

She has been a finalist in eight consecutive Heysen Prize Exhibitions gaining one Highly Commended Award and also Best Regional Artist Award as well as being a finalist in four Sola Art Exhibitions gaining two Highly Commended Awards. She has also received a Best in Show Award at the 2009 Campbelltown Rotary Show.. Two Gold Awards at the 2013 and 2016 Victor Harbor Rotary Shows, third prize at the 2013 Goolwa Rotary Art Show and Best in Show Award at the 2013 PASA Pepper St Exhibition. First Prize at the 2013 and 2017 Clare Rotary Art Show plus two Awards in 2014 amongst others. Since 2004 she has gained four First Prizes, one Second prize, two Third Prizes and a Commended Awards at the Adelaide Royal Show. Throughout 2015 her pastel work gained five First Prizes, one Second prize, a Fifth Prize and one Merit Award. She began 2016 with a Gold Award at the Victor Harbor Rotary Art Show, a Fourth Prize at Yorke Peninsular Council Art Exhibition in Ardrossan, March 2016 and in July, Most Outstanding Prize for Pastel at the Balaklava Courthouse Art Show. In 2017 her work has gained First Prize pastel at Clare Rotary Art Show. Highly Commended Balaklava Art Show, Second Prize, Royal Adelaide Show Art Prize.

Overall, her work has gained 85 awards since 2001.
