Marta Blaszak – “Nautilus”

Starting bid: $75.00

1 in stock

Nautilus was the start of my journey into abstract painting. Usually I have no finished subject in my mind when I start an abstract painting. I let the painting tell me what it wants to be. In case of this painting it started as an image of floating seaweed under water, which I then enhanced with an abstract image of a Nautilus Shell. The painting is finished with gloss acrylic varnish.

Marta Blaszak is a Visual Artist, based in Brisbane, Australia. Born in Germany, she completed a Bachelor of Interior Design at the University of Arts in Berlin, and soon after migrated to Australia where she worked as an Interior Architect in Sydney and later in Brisbane.

With a passion for art and design, she began experimenting with Acrylics, Pastels and Watercolour, and completed a Diploma of Visual Art in 2011. She is now an accomplished artist and teacher, running workshops and exhibiting throughout South East Queensland.

Marta’s contribution includes some of her earlier work, grounded in still life and realism, as well as some of her more recent work which combines abstract fluid acrylics with traditional painting methods.

Although both styles focus on the natural world, they do so in two strikingly different ways. While Marta’s earlier work is controlled and precise, her latest pieces capture and celebrate the unexpected, unique, and sometimes chaotic beauty of nature without trying to contain it.
