My work references traditional botanical drawing by looking at the macroscopic, microscopic, shape, colour and texture of the subject. By using the ancient medium of encaustic wax I not only respond the idea of preservation but also create depth and layering within the work.

Description

Rebecca McEwan is a South Australian visual artist who responds to the minute details observed in nature and how as human we connect and engage with the natural world. Through a variety of media she explores the emotions that these details evoke in her. Through her practice, Rebecca regularly exhibits and has under taken recent residencies and mentorship programs within scientific institutions to gain a broader understanding of the themes she explores in her work.
