Tannya Harricks’ paintings are derived from sketches done out in the landscape and brought to life in the studio with intense layers of oil paint and bold, confident brushstrokes. Harricks paints intuitively and without premeditation, intent on capturing the energy of the subject through spontaneous gesture. Quintessentially Australian and New Zealand landscapes are reimagined in the manipulation of colour and form. She seeks to draw the viewer into the work with the fluidity of the brushwork and presence of the paint.

Harricks has had works exhibited in Australia, New Zealand and Florence and has been awarded both the Waverley Art Prize (2013) and Hornsby Art Prize (2012). She has also been a finalist in many prominent Australian art awards including the Gallipoli Art Prize (2012), Mosman Art Prize (2014, 2013), the Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize, S.A (2013), the Muswellbrook Art Prize (2018, 2015, 2013), and the Gold Coast Art Prize (2012).
